Measuring for your new doors You will need:- Metal retractable measuring tape (definitely not a fabric tape) A pencil and paper ' A friend to help check measurements (optional)! Doors Assuming your kitchen units are relatively modern i.e. 15 years or less they will be constructed of 15mm or 18mm MFC and the doors will be fixed onto the face of the cabinets not inside the recess. You should measure the reverse of your doors in millimeters
(the industry standard measurement). As a rough guide if your unit is
500mm wide your door will be 496mm wide, if it is 350mm wide your door
will be 346mm wide, see it’s always 4mm narrower to allow plenty
of room for clearance, The height of your doors follow the same principle with 5mm clearance. Your base unit doors will probably be in the area of 715mm in height and your wall doors about 570mm to 715 mm but don’t forget we make to your exact specification. Measure your doors once, then twice then again! Remember the old adage measure twice cut once! We will drill your doors for hinges with 35mm centres (supplied
separately) at 100mm from the bottom of the door and 100mm from the top
of the door. please let us know on your order sheet if your door is left
handed i.e. drilled for hinges on the left as you look at the closed door
on the unit or vice versa for right handed. These hinges are suitable to 15 and 18mm units and are approved to BS6222 (1997) part 2 level 2 and like our doors are designed to tolerate the rigors of family life. Don’t forget that if you want to use your existing hinges you need to check they are compatible with our 35mm centred hinge holes.
